How is Leave Allowance Calculated?

Leave allowance is calculated differently depending on employment type:

  • For salaried employees: Equals half (1/2) of monthly salary for full year of service
  • For daily-wage workers: Corresponds to 13 daily wages as maximum limit
  • For less than one year of service: Proportional (pro-rata) calculation based on days worked

What Does Labor Legislation Stipulate?

According to Law A.N. 539/1945 and Law N. 4504/1966, every employee in the private sector is entitled to leave allowance:

  • Allowance is prepaid along with vacation pay at the start of leave
  • Minimum wage 2026: €880 → Allowance: €440 (Gross) for full year of service
  • Cannot exceed half of monthly salary (salaried) or 13 daily wages (daily-wage)

Leave Allowance and Part-time Employment

Part-time employees are entitled to leave allowance proportional to their earnings, adjusted to their working hours. If paid monthly salary, allowance equals half (1/2) of your actual monthly salary.
